Mechanism of Action

Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), the primary catechin in green tea, inhibits 5-alpha reductase in vitro and stimulates dermal papilla cell proliferation. EGCG also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may protect follicles from oxidative stress and reduce scalp inflammation.
