Mechanism of Action
Selenium is incorporated into selenoproteins, including glutathione peroxidases (antioxidant defense) and iodothyronine deiodinases (thyroid hormone activation). Thyroid dysfunction is a known cause of telogen effluvium, and selenium deficiency impairs thyroid function. Selenium also protects hair follicle cells from oxidative damage.
