Mechanism of Action

Spironolactone is an aldosterone antagonist that also acts as an androgen receptor blocker and inhibits androgen biosynthesis. It competes with DHT for binding to the androgen receptor and reduces androgen production by inhibiting 17α-hydroxylase.
