Mechanism of Action

Melatonin receptors (MT1, MT2) are expressed in human hair follicles. Topically applied melatonin acts as a potent antioxidant, scavenging free radicals in the follicular microenvironment. It may modulate hair growth cycling by extending anagen and has demonstrated in vitro stimulation of hair matrix keratinocyte proliferation.
